After an initial agreement and announcement that Tyler "Beowulf" Jones (6-3) would be taking on prospect Braden "HP" Smith (6-1) for the State of Oklahoma Welterweight Championship at HD MMA 8 in April, Tyler Jones failed to sign his contract for three weeks after multiple requests from the HD MMA organization.
Taking the place of Jones, is dangerous veteran Ken “Thunder” Jackson (15-10). Jackson is a well-rounded and experienced competitor with 25 bouts under his belt, including fights under the Bellator MMA banner. “Thunder” looks to play spoiler as he aims to take out one of the welterweight division's brightest young stars.
Braden Smith, an Oklahoma fan favorite, comes into the bout riding a three fight winning streak. The impressive run includes an spectacular Legacy FC 63 win over HD MMA veteran and standout collegiate wrestler Teagan Dooley, via first round submission.
Additional bouts for HD MMA 8 will be announced in the coming weeks.
